The Winter Olympics this year is at Italy. Numerous athletes with Alaska ties are competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy February 6–22, 2026, across multiple sites in Lombardy and Veneto, From Alaska, Anchorage’s Gus Schumacher competed in the team sprint event and got a silver medal. Some of the other sports are alpine skiing, bobsleigh, curling, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, and others. Other Alaskans who are competing are Rosie, Brennan doing cross-country, goaltender Jeremy Swayman, and biathlete Maxime Germain. Today they are competing in Men’s Ice Hockey semifinals and Women’s curling semifinals.
